The idea
Hey there, I'm Alex, and I want to share the story behind Flimbe. Journaling has always been a passion of mine. In my youth, I filled countless notebooks with the adventures of my days, capturing every experience, both good and bad.
As time went on, I shifted from journaling to documenting my life through photos and videos, like many others in the digital age. However, I found that these mediums often couldn't fully convey the depth of my experiences. With the arrival of my two little boys, I felt a newfound urgency to preserve my thoughts and feelings for them to look back on one day.
When I decided to return to journaling in late 2023, I turned to journaling apps. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what I found. Many were overly complicated, inundating me with features I didn't need. Others were intrusive, constantly prodding me to write or suggesting detailed templates for my entries. I just wanted a simple app that respected my privacy, much like the trusty paperback journals of my past.
Realizing I couldn't find what I was looking for, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Drawing on my developer skills, I embarked on the journey of creating Flimbe. After countless late nights of coding, Flimbe emerged as the simple, private journaling app I had been searching for.
